A man who was sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot near C&F Restaurant in Purcell Estate was shot after a masked assailant ordered him to hand over a gold chain and pendant, along with cash.

Police said that the victim was taken to Peebles Hospital and is scheduled to be discharged today.

According to Police, the victim claimed that at 10:20 pm last Saturday, August 18, he was approached by a masked assailant with what he described as a black pistol. The masked man demanded his gold chain and pendant valued at $8,000.

Police stated that when the victim handed over his chain, the assailant demanded his cash and the victim refused his demands. He was then shot in the upper thigh.

The assailant is described as a black male, 5' tall, well built, wearing short pants, a white vest and a black shirt over his head. Only his eyes and forehead were visible at the time of the robbery.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the robbery or any persons with information to come forward and assist with identifying the assailant by calling the Criminal Investigation Unit through the RVIPF three digit access number 311. Persons with information can also call the anonymous confidential Crimestoppers hotline number at 800-TIPS (8477) or any officer within the RVIPF.

There is something called self defense and one day... more
